Abstract

Container shifting during sea voyages is a critical issue that poses serious risks to the safety of ships, cargo, and crew, as well as causing potential financial and operational losses. This study aims to analyze the primary causes of container shifting on KM. Tanto Senang and to provide preventive recommendations. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with the Fishbone diagram approach applied to identify root causes. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and secondary data from the vessel's operational reports. The findings indicate that container shifting is mainly caused by an insufficient number of lashing gears, inadequate cargo watch supervision, and unsafe loading methods. The study recommends routine inspections of lashing gear, improved lighting in the working environment, and the implementation of safe loading procedures in accordance with maritime operational standards.
